Asheville Meditation Center is holding a 1-day retreat on "How to Meditate".
Meditation is the central practice of Yoga. On a practical level, meditation helps us organize our mind and emotions. It leads to greater self-awareness and awareness of the world around us. In a sense, it can be a tool for self-therapy as it helps us uncover the subtle forces of the subconscious mind and allows us to remove obstacles to our self-development.

Instructor Bio: Jerome Smith - Jerome is an ordained Pandit in the Himalayan Tradition. He received his yoga teaching certification through the Himalayan Institute. His studies include a 2 1/2 year intensive training program in India. To learn more about Jerome, please visit www.mipsm.org

Instructor Bio: Dr. Eloise Bradham - Eloise was initiated into the Himalayan Tradition in 2004, and is a Board member of the Asheville Meditation Center. In 2004 she completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training, as well as Ayurveda training with Dr. David Frawley (Vamadeva Shastri). Eloise has practiced Western Medicine for many years and also has a Medical Acupuncture practice. Eloise's experience allows her to see the world through both western and eastern perspectives. (EARLY BIRD) SCIENCE OF YOGIC BREATHING/PRANAYAMA IMMERSION $65
Dr. Sundar Balasubramanian is a researcher at the Medical University of South Carolina studying cancer therapeutics, and Yoga. His recent research provides evidence how Pranayama (Yogic breathing) practices could promote wellbeing in the context of health and disease. Sundar is a member of International Association of Yoga Therapists and the Integral Yoga Teachers Association, and is an IAYT-certified Yoga Therapist. He is the Founder/Director of PranaScience Institute, and a speaker of TEDx Charleston 2015. His recent book is “PranaScience: Decoding Yoga Breathing”.

The objective of this training is to provide Yoga teachers and general practitioners the basic principles and practice of Pranayama. This course is good for someone who wants to enter into Pranayama teaching in addition to their Yoga (Asana) teaching experience. This ten hours workshop/immersion will cover the scientific theories, techniques, and clinical applications of Pranayama.
